Possible Side Effects
There can be several insignificant side effects when using Synthroid:
anxiety, indigestion, vomiting, mood changes, temporary hair loss, weakness in the muscles, insomnia, stomach spasms, increased fatigue.
If such symptoms are observed at you, immediately seek medical help:
Allergic reactions (swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, itching, difficult breathing, rash, urticaria), changes in appetite, pain in the chest; increased perspiration, raised heart rate, headache, tachycardia, irritability, leg cramps , anxiety, tremors, breathlessness, increasing or losing of weight. Synthroid is to be used only by the patient for whom it is prescribed. Do not share it with other people.
If your symptoms do not improve or if they become worse, check with your doctor.
Interaction
Reduces effects of oral hypoglycemic drugs and insulin, cardiac glycosides, increases - indirect anticoagulants (increased prothrombin time), tricyclic antidepressants. Cholestyramine, cholestypole, aluminum hydroxide reduce the plasma concentration due to inhibition of intestinal absorption. Phenytoine reduces the amount of levothyroxine-related protein, and the concentration of thyroxine (T4) by 15 and 25% respectively. Estrogens increase the concentration of thyroglobulin related to the fraction (efficiency decreases). While the use of anabolic steroids, asparaginase, clofibrate, furosemide, salicylates, tamoxifen pharmacokinetic interaction at the level of protein binding is possible. On the synthesis, secretion, distribution and metabolism of the drug is influenced by amiodarone, aminoglutethimide, PAS, ethionamide, beta-blockers, antithyroid drugs, chloral hydrate, carbamazepine, diazepam, L-DOPA, dopamine, metoclopramide, lovastatin, somatostatin. While the use of phenytoin, salicylates, high doses of furosemide, clofibrate increases the concentration of drug in the blood. |
